1. Do Tees Sport make up bats?
Yes. If you'd like to select a blade and rubbers to be made up, please click here.
If you have your own bat that you’d like to send to us for re-rubbering, please note that we cannot re-rubber factory-made bats (i.e. hobby bats which are glued down with extra strong adhesives). Custom-made bats can be sent to us for re-rubbering, along with a note of your name, address and phone number, to:
Tees Sport
Westerby Road
Middlesbrough
TS3 8TD
Responsibility for sending your bat to us would lie with you. Once we have received the bat we will contact you for your payment details before processing your order. Estimated turnaround for dispatch is 2-3 working days from the date of receipt of your bat and you will be advised of available delivery options at the time of payment.
2. What do I need to make up my own bat?
We stock all the items you need to make up your own bat. We recommend the following products:
For help on how to use these items to make up your bat, click here for a useful instructional video.
3. Why are some products not available in my country?
Tees Sport is proud to work in partnership with many leading table tennis brands, such as Butterfly, Donic and Andro, to name a few, and in order for us to work in harmony with our suppliers to provide the best service we can, it’s necessary for us to operate in accordance with any territorial retailing structures our partners wish to put in place. For this reason, we are currently unable to send any Butterfly goods outside of the UK and Ireland.
If you are based outside of the UK and Ireland and wish to purchase Butterfly products, you can find your local retailer at www.butterfly.tt/shop.
4. How long will I have to wait for delivery?
Delivery estimates are included on every delivery option available on the basket page. While we aim to despatch all orders within 1 working day of receiving them, please note that all delivery estimates are approximate, with the exception of the Royal Mail Next Day Special and Royal Mail Next day Special Saturday delivery services, which we guarantee to arrive with you on the day indicated, or we will refund your postage charge.
5. How do I know what each handle shape means?
For a clear comparison of each handle shape that you may see in our range of bats and blades, please visit our blades page. Please note that not every handle shape will be available for every blade we sell. If you are unsure which handle shape you should choose, our advice page contains some useful information.
6. An item I want to order is out of stock. How do I know when/if it will be back in stock?
In most cases, when a currently running product goes out of stock our website is updated within hours to indicate this, along with an estimate of when the product is expected to be back in stock. Please note that delays with product availability from our suppliers may lead to a longer wait than originally estimated, though we will contact you to advise you if this is the case.
If you cannot see the specific size/colour/sponge thickness/handle shape that you’d like available on the product page, then this means that it is a discontinued line and it is no longer available for us to supply.
7. How do I know which size clothing and footwear I should choose?
If you’re unsure which size clothing or footwear to choose, please visit our sizing guide for help with your selection. If any clothing or footwear item doesn’t fit, you have the right to inform us of your intention to return the product to us within 14 days of receipt. You will then have a further 14 days from the date that you contact us to return the item/s. We regret that this does not apply to socks which have been tried on. These cannot be accepted back for refund or exchange.
8. I’m a beginner. How do I know which bat I should choose?
Choosing a suitable bat for your needs can be difficult with the large range of different options available today, but we’re here to help. For more advanced players or those looking for more specific requirements from their bat, please take a look at our advice page for help. If you still need further advice on the products we sell we’d be happy to help. Simply click here to download our bat advice form and once completed, email it to us at tabletennis@teessport.com and one of our experts will try to help you as soon as we can.
If you’re just beginning to play and you’re not sure where to start, we recommend taking a look at the following options:
‘Hobby Bats’ – These are relatively basic factory-made bats, perfect for casual play, but probably not what you’re looking for if you want to take up the game more seriously.
Low-cost Custom-made Bats – These bats are of a noticeably higher quality than that of the hobby bats, but are still great options for those working to a budget. You’ll need to select the blade and rubbers and then select the make-up option on your basket page. We recommend looking at the following example blade and rubber for a good quality bat that will cost you less than £70:
High Quality Beginner/Improver Bats – These bats will be of the highest quality, for those who are looking to start out with high ambitions to be the best they can be. You’ll notice a more responsive feel and will be able to generate a higher level of spin and speed than you could with a lower cost bat. Again, you’ll need to select the blade and rubbers you’d like and then select the make-up option on your basket page. Classic examples of these kinds of blade and rubbers would be:
9. Do Tees Sport sell gift vouchers?
We do sell gift vouchers in £5, £10, £20 and £50 denominations. These can be redeemed on our website, by post or by phone. You can find them here.
10. Do Tees Sport have a shop I can visit?
We operate chiefly as a mail order retailer, based in Middlesbrough, UK. We do have a small showroom to display a selection of the latest clothing, rubbers, blades, footwear and bats, but we regret that we are unable to provide demonstrations of tables.
11. Are there any discounts available?
Our prices are fixed in accordance with those displayed on our website. However, if you represent a club or organisation looking for a quote for multiple tables, robots and/or playing kit, please send an email to tabletennis@teessport.com, detailing your requirements and one of our team will gladly get in touch as soon as we can.
12. What do I do if I have a problem with a robot I've purchased from Tees Sport?
If you have purchased a Butterfly Amicus or a Practice Partner robot from us and you wish to raise a claim for a fault with it, please email us at tabletennis@teessport.com, explaining the nature of the problem. We will aim to advise on how to resolve the issue via email where appropriate. If your robot requires specialist repair, we will then advise on how to proceed with this.
In all instances of returning robots to us, please make sure you are certain that the robot is indeed faulty and doesn't simply require any standard maintenance as detailed in its accompanying manual, nor does it contain any foreign debris, as cases whereby a robot has been collected by a courier service may require you to pay for the carriage costs incurred (see our terms & conditions for more details).
